Visiting to Terehovo Customs Check Point .
February 04, 2010 | LATVIA
On February 4, 2010 the representative of Agency TRIA ROBIT together with the officers of the Intellectual Property Protection Subdivision of the Main Customs Board of Latvia and the officers of the Latgale Regional Customs Administration visited Terehovo Customs Check Point on the border with Russia that is the eastern border of the European Union. The aim of the visit was to check the consignments together with the customs officers in order to discover whether there is any infringement of intellectual property rights.
As a result of common work some trucks with various goods (e.g. clothes and footwear, cosmetics and perfumery, car parts and accessories, etc.) were checked. A more detailed physical control was carried out in both directions – in relation to import and export including transit consignments. During the work the participants were sharing opinions, discussing common issues, realizing and discovering various risk factors, etc. Besides, some suspicious consignments were discovered. They were checked even more carefully and the information obtained was forwarded to the owners of the corresponding trademarks.
To summarize the work done, it was decided to organize similar events as often as possible and visit each time different customs check points; thus, favoring the efficiency of customs work and protection of the rights of intellectual property owners.
